Since the 1960s until today, Roy Spence has worked as a gifted and prolific ‘amateur’ filmmaker, making over ninety films in rural Comber. Yet his 1950s horror and sci-fi inspired films would put many professionals to shame. Tirelessly inventive, shooting on 8mm film and making absolutely everything himself, including sets, models and in camera special effects, Roy is a constant inspiration. It was a delight to be commissioned to make this documentary and better still make a good friend in the process.
